World premiere: Exclusive 360-degree broadcast with A1 and Nokia

Pilot project in home qualifier

Switching the TV on and sitting back to watch the match - that is what we are all used to. Broadcasting these days is taking on new dimensions, however, with a combination of broadband internet, intelligent 360-degree cameras, immersive audio and top performances on the pitch - as a select group of A1 customers were able to experience yesterday at A1 headquarters in Vienna as well as the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg.

Our UEFA Champions League qualifier against FC Twente was broadcast via two 360-degree cameras via the A1 glass-fibre network from the stadium to VR glasses in real time for the fans to enjoy - just as if they were sat behind the corner flag at the stadium.

FC Red Bull Salzburg doesn't only want to play a leading role on the pitch, as innovation is an important focus for us. It's only logical that we further develop our long-term partnership with A1 and break new ground - like with this innovative 360-degree broadcast.

CEO Stephan Reiter

With the live broadcast of the match yesterday, we showed that options for using modern technology are near limitless. What is true with applications though is the need for a network that takes information and images over long distances to consumers. I am impressed with what our teams have been able to set up together with Nokia and FC Red Bull Salzburg.

Marcus Grausam, A1 CEO

Nokia RXRM makes real-time experiences possible. Operators of sport and entertainment events can use the latest connectivity solutions to offer VIP experiences with content rights in boxes at the stadium or fan zones. The way the FC Red Bull Salzburg qualifier was presented by A1 is proof of the scalability and innovation possible in the sport and entertainment area.
