Bryan Okoh had not played a competitive match since 6 November 2021. Shortly after that he received the good news that he was being called up to the Swiss national team. Then injury struck - with the 18-year-old suffering the misfortune of a cruciate ligament injury in training for his national side. The long route to recovery had to begin.
That is finally over - after a long 489 days out, the central defender played a competitive match again on Friday evening!
In our co-operation partner FC Liefering's 3-1 win, Bryan Okoh came on as a substitute in the 60th minute and gained some vitally important playing time. Seeing the Swiss defender in action again was an emotional moment for everyone connected to our club - and an unfortunate own goal in the final minutes does not change that at all!
I am so delighted. I am pleased to be back on the pitch. I am even happier about it as we won. I think it won't be long until I'm back at 100%. I feel really good already and am looking forward to the challenges ahead.
