We have our first new signing of 2025 over the line. Karim Onisiwo is joining from Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2026.
Return home after nine years
The 32-year-old born in Vienna is returning after nine years in the German top-flight to Austria. The experienced and physically strong striker made an impressive total of 233 appearances (with 35 goals and 32 assists) for Mainz as well as making 24 appearances for the Austrian national team.
Karim Onisiwo is to train for the first time tomorrow in Taxham and will wear the shirt number 9 for us.

It's great that we have been able to make our first important new signing so early. We have signed a striker in Karim Onisiwo who has played at a high level for many years and has gained a lot of experience. He also has a really good character, is a great team player and happy to take a lead role. Karim will help us on and off the pitch.
After discussions with Rouven Schröder, who I know well from my time in Mainz, it was clear very quickly that I wanted to make the move to FC Red Bull Salzburg. In addition to the chance to challenge for titles with the club comes the fact that my wife is from Salzburg. I am pleased that it is going to be such an intensive restart and think I will not need much time to settle in.
