Seiwald, Wöber & Co push World Champions to the brink

Ten minutes away from sensational win!

Les Blues were on the brink of a famous red and white beating last night! Our clever midfielder, Nici Seiwald and recently converted roving full-back Max Wöber both played the full 90 minutes of a legendary evening as Austria pushed World Champions France to the brink at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna yesterday in the UEFA Nations League.

Andreas Weimann was in the perfect place to finish a wonderful combination move to put Rangnick's Austria ahead (37')! Speedster Kylian Mbappe rescued a 1-1 draw late on for a French side that dominated the second half (83'). Salzburg-born goalkeeper Patrick Pentz put in a stunning performance, with several great saves for the hosts.

The impressive result leaves the Austrian national team second in the UEFA Nations League group halfway through the group stage. The international break finishes for them with a trip to Denmark on Monday, with the Danes suffering a rare defeat yesterday 0-1 against Croatia (with Sucic on the bench).

On the subject of Danes - the U21 side featuring our Danish Dynamite Mau Kjaergaard were put to the test by Scotland in European qualifying. The youngster played the full 90 minutes and scored the equaliser, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Denmark will definitely go into the play-offs as second place in the group.
