The new head coach of FC Red Bull Salzburg is Thomas Letsch! The 56-year-old German has signed a contract with our Red Bulls running until 30 June 2027.
Salzburg – and beyond
Thomas Letsch has worked previously in Salzburg as well as gaining a great deal of experience internationally.
His previous coaching engagements include the U16 and U18 teams of the Red Bull Football Academy and Salzburg's UEFA Youth League team. He has also worked as head coach for FC Liefering as well as assistant coach and interim head coach (for two matches) at FC Red Bull Salzburg. His experience at other levels and in other countries includes at Austria Vienna, Vitesse Arnheim and VfL Bochum.
Joining along with Thomas Letsch is 39-year-old German Kai Hesse, who will work as assistant coach (previously having worked for Schalke 04 II, Hannover 96 and Arminia Bielefeld.

We are delighted to have agreed to recruit Thomas Letsch as our new head coach at FC Red Bull Salzburg. Thomas knows our club really well from his past work and has gained lots of experience internationally in various leagues. By quickly resolving this important position, we are now able to continue to plan for as successful a rest of the season as possible without any limitations.
It feels really good to be back here. FC Red Bull Salzburg is a special club for me with which I have already experienced some things and now am able to return to as head coach. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here in the club as quickly as possible. It is important that we develop together as a team, as we will only succeed if we are all singing from the same hym nsheet.
Introductory press conference
The official unveiling of Thomas Letsch will take place in a press conference on Friday 3 January 2025, which will be his first day in charge of training for our team. The press conference can be seen from 11:00 CET on a free RBS TV live stream.
