Amar Dedic is your Player of the Month for September 2022

Wins ahead of Okafor, Capaldo, and Pavlovic

They often go unappreciated, which makes it even sweeter that a defensive specialist has won our Player of the Month honour. There was never any doubt about it in terms of the voting. Amar Dedic took a whopping 72 percent of the 9,000 votes to secure our Player of the Month trophy for the first time.

Overview of the results:

Amar Dedic (72%)

Raheem Sterling, Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez – Amar Dedic has faced some of the biggest names in football in September. Our Bosnian right-back has been more than a match for them too. The 20-year-old has performed at the very highest level and some more. Dedic has regularly gotten involved in our attacking play too, getting an assist against Ried in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Noah Okafor (18%)

The 100% man. Noah Okafor scored in all four of his appearances in September - against WSG Tirol and SV Ried as well as against AC Milan and Chelsea – with his two Champions League strikes being particular highlights. Only in the 1-1 draw against Rapid Vienna did our marksman have to sit out with teeth problems, and we missed his goals.

Strahinja Pavlovic (6%)

Strahinja Pavlovic's performance at Stamford Bridge earned him comparisons with Sergio Ramos on social networks – and our Serbian giant was flattered by them, despite not wanting to place himself next to the legendary Spanish defender. The 21-year-old has shown remarkable presence and dedication in his challenges - right up to the very last second, as his sliding tackle and textbook cross in stoppage time against Rapid Vienna demonstrated. In a month when we suffered defensive injury problems, the consistency of Pavlovic was even more important for our success.

Nicolas Capaldo (4%)

The lungs on him! Nicolas Capaldo puts in kilometre after kilometre every single week without batting an eyelid and is a cornerstone of our intensive pressing. The Argentine played the full 90 minutes in both of our Champions League encounters, and he goes straight onto the team sheet for our Bundesliga games.
