Holidays, national teams and a World Cup

The weeks ahead

Winter break time. There are now a good 82 days until our next competitive match on 3 February 2023 (against Sturm Graz in the cup). There is plenty to keep us busy until then. In Luka Sucic (Croatia), Strahinja Pavlovic (Serbia), Noah Okafor and Philipp Köhn (both Switzerland), four of our men will be on the big stage of the Qatar World Cup in the weeks ahead. Another ten Red Bulls are to prepare to represent their national teams in the coming days. The rest can finally put their feet up after a manic autumn of football. Matthias Jaissle has given our team time off training until 27 November before two training camps are held. It's all about the internationals for the moment, though, and here are the details:

  • Junior Adamu, Nicolas Seiwald and Max Wöber have been called up to the squad of the Austrian national team for friendly matches v Andorra (Wednesday 16.11., 18:00 CET, ORF 1) and Italy (Sunday 20.11., 20:45, ORF 1).
  • Samson Baidoo and Austria U21 face friendlies against Turkey (Thursday 17.11., 14:45) and Croatia (Monday 21.11., 18:00). Dijon Kameri is out of the squad due to illness.
  • Nico Mantl is in the Germany U21 squad for a friendly v Italy (Saturday 19.11., 17:30).
  • Maurits Kjaergaard and Denmark U20 have friendly encounters ahead against Sweden (Thursday 17.11., 15:00) and Hungary (Sunday 20.11., 16:00).
  • Sekou Koita is set to represent Mali in a friendly match v Algeria (Wednesday 16.11., 20:30).
  • Benjamin Sesko and Slovenia are set for friendlies against Romania (Thursday 17.11., 17:30) and Montenegro (20.11., 15:00).
  • Roko Simic is in the Croatia U21 squad for friendlies against Poland (Thursday 17.11., 18:00) and Austria (Monday 21.11. 18:00).
  • Ignace Van der Brempt is in the Belgium U20 set-up for friendly meetings with Portugal (Saturday 19.11., 18:00) and Norway (Tuesday 22.11., 14:00).
  • Samson Baidoo, Dijon Kameri and Justin Omoregie were called up for a young Austrian talents' training camp from 21 to 25 November in Croatia.
  • We might get to see our boys in action at the World Cup for the first time on Wednesday 23 November. Croatia and Luka Sucic (11:00 CET v Morocco) start their campaign then. The following day, Noah Okafor and Philipp Köhn (Switzerland vs. Cameroon, 11:00) as well as Strahinja Pavlovic (Serbia vs. Brazil, 20:00) are set to make their World Cup debuts (all three matches will be live on ORF 1 in Austria).
