Taking the next step in women's football

New U20w team joins Future League

Our women's section are set for their second season and will feature a second team too! After we began with an U16 women's side last season, we are now taking the next step.

For the 2024/25 season, we are entering a U20 team as the second side of Women's Bundesliga outfit FC Bergheim in the Future League, an Austrian national league for second-string sides of Women's Bundesliga clubs. Some 20 players will be in the squad, most of whom are being promoted from the U16 team that played in our first season in women's football. The coaching team led by head coach Dusan Pavlovic will also make the move.

Having learned a huge amount in our first season, we are continuing at a very different level. We will play across Austria against only women's teams, some of which have been around for years like St. Pölten, Altach or Sturm Graz, and are among the biggest names in Austrian women's football. This exciting new challenge marks the next step in our development. We want to learn and make another good show of our abilities.

Regional sports centre in Rif as new home

As of this week, the regional sports centre in Rif is the base for FC Red Bull Salzburg women. Our women are already training there, with the full infrastructure such as a gym, hall and swimming pool available for their use. Home matches are to be played in Bergheim. The Future League season will start away for our side on 15 August at FFC Vorderland/SCR Altach in Vorarlberg.

While we will continue to have training sessions from time to time at the Red Bull Football Academy, it's great that we found this new home. We have everything we need here and can prepare professionally for the challenges ahead.

Long-term partner supporting project

Another novelty is the support of Wiener Städtischen Versicherung, with the insurance company's name going onto the jerseys of our women's team.

We are really pleased to have Wiener Städtischen Versicherung supporting us as the first partners in this exciting project. It is an important step for us to have a well-known sponsor and long-term partner of the club alongside us. We are looking full of confidence ahead to a successful co-operation in this area.

Bernd Winkler, head of women's football

Sport is healthy and improves well-being – and Wiener Städtische is delighted to support that as a sponsor. Wiener Städtische is trying to lead by example, socially, and we are really pleased to be a sponsor of the FC Red Bull Salzburg women's team.

After several weeks of scouting, our new U16w side – with a new coaching team under head coach (and former Women's Bundesliga player) Lisa-Marie Zmek – also started their preparations at the Rif regional sports centre and will play again next season in the boys' U14 Sparkassenliga. Our girls finished the 2023/24 season in a strong second place, just two points behind champions SV Seekirchen.
