The season has ended in perfect fashion. A 1-0 home win over LASK saw our girls celebrate wildly at the final whistle, as the title in the ÖFB Future League was secured! Their two closest rivals – St. Pölten and Austria Vienna – may be playing tomorrow, but thanks to the win Sara Grabovac & Co have pulled four and five points clear of them respectively, and there is no taking the league title away.
There was a tense final home match for a long period until Valentina Akrap struck in the 59th minute for our girls to win the league. They took a massive 14 wins from 18 matches in total to take a shock title.
Incredible! I am very proud of this team, as this is the reward for all the hard work we have put in together over the past year. That we won this really tough battle today and took the title is a really cool feeling for everyone!
Their rivals may have pushed them right to the very last, but our girls kept their nerve. After their coach Dusan Pavlovic left in January for the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga, our girls kept their superb run going under interim coach Isabella Schweighofer. A recent 2-0 win against St. Pölten sent them to the top of the league, and they were able to clinch the title in the final match of the season!
From 2025/26 in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga
We can set our sights even higher next season, as from 2025/26 FC Red Bull Salzburg will not only have U16w and U20w teams but also a first team in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga.
That is all being made possible by a partnership between FC Bergheim and our Red Bulls in which that club will now appear under the name FC Red Bull Salzburg Women, under the sporting and operational leadership of FC Red Bull Salzburg.
